AB ORLEN Lietuva operates the only crude oil refinery in the Baltic States, along with a network of crude oil and petroleum product pipelines, a marine import and export terminal in Būtingė, and a loading terminal in Mockava. The Company’s core business is the production and sale of petroleum products.
The refinery, located 18 km north-west of Mažeikiai and in proximity to the ports of Būtingė, Klaipėda, and Ventspils (Latvia), processes approximately 10 million tons of crude oil annually.
In 2002, the Biržai Pipelines Maintenance Division – situated in Lithuania’s northernmost region and linked to the Mažeikiai Refinery by a 220 km crude oil pipeline – was merged with the Būtingė Division, a reverse import/export terminal, to form the Pipelines and Terminal Operations Subdivision. The Būtingė Terminal is connected to the refinery via a 92.5 km crude oil pipeline.
