www.15min.lt contains misleading information defaming Public Company ORLEN Lietuva.
The published video states that the settlement agreement signed between PC “Lietuvos Geležinkeliai” and PC “ORLEN Lietuva” provides discounts for ORLEN Lietuva in the amount of 100 million EUR. This amount is highly overestimated, although due confidentiality clouses of the contract we cannot disclose the exact amount. The journalist takes advantage of that and present false and misleading information.
Journalist D.Pancerovas complains in a video clip that the company and the beneficiaries did not disclose information about financial support to basketball clubs. The provisions of the signed support agreements provide that the information contained in the contracts and the information relating to the conclusion and performance of the contracts shall be confidential. Moreover, the parties undertake not to disclose such information to third parties, except as provided by law. Such provisions are standard for sponsorship agreements and they are implemented in contracts all over the world.
PC ORLEN Lietuva is one of the biggest basketball sponsors in Lithuania for more than 15 years. The recipients of financial support were women's and men's basketball leagues, as well as Lithuanian and National Basketball Leagues, Lithuanian Basketball Federation, Mažeikiai Basketball Team. BC Rytas, before known as „Lietuvos rytas“, received financial support for the basketball season of 2005-2007. ORLEN Lietuva contributes to the victories of Lithuanian basketball taking into account not the political but the economic situation of the company.
On 25 April 2018 during the Lithuanian-Polish Economic Forum, PC ORLEN Lietuva was awarded with the Investment of the Century. The award was established by Jerzy Giedroyc of the Polish-Lithuanian Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation. Prime Minister Skvernelis just said a eulogy speech, as well as President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus and Dean of the Faculty of History of Vilnius University Professor Rimvydas Petrauskas.
As there were numerous untrue and slanderous facts about ORLEN Lietuva in the video published on ww.15min.lt, the Company will consider bringing legal action to protect its reputation.
