Currently ORLEN Lietuva services are carrying out activities aimed at restoring functioning of the infrastructure in Būtingė, where slight spill of oil occurred. At the same time - despite the difficult weather conditions - intensive works are carried out to minimize the impact of the situation on the environment.
The spill has been stopped. The exact amount of the spilled oil will be known after the emergency response operations.
Currently, AB ORLEN Lietuva tugboats, accident response team is actively working at the scene of the accident, and the Company's security team is patrolling and monitoring the coast. The Baltic Sea coast from Šventoji to Liepaja was inspected – no pollution was observed. AB ORLEN Lietuva Emergency Operations Center was urgently convened and an incident investigation commission was formed. All possible measures are being taken to respond to the accident as quickly as possible and to reduce damage to the environment. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
ORLEN Lietuva has been in contact with the Lithuanian Ministry of the Environment and the competent Lithuanian services from the very beginning of the event identification. The situation is now fully under control.
AB ORLEN Lietuva activities will not be interrupted by this accident. The crude oil refinery in Mažeikiai has accumulated a crude oil reserve; oil refining will proceed according to plan.
