Polish Business Awards to ORLEN Lietuva

ORLEN Lietuva was awarded for Poland investments in Lithuania and social responsibility for the welfare of society and citizens of Lithuania during the ceremony of Polish Business Awards 2013 held on November 18 in Vilnius.
 
Companies were awarded for corporate achievements in Polish – Lithuanian economic cooperation and development of friendly business relations in a contest arranged for the second time by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Vilnius. ORLEN Lietuva was announced the winner in two categories – Polish investments in Lithuania and social responsiveness for the welfare of society and citizens of Lithuania.
 
Taking an honorary award on behalf of the company, Waldemar Winkler, ORLEN Lietuva Chief Financial Officer, expressed his gratitude for such appreciation of Polish major foreign investments and pointed out that social responsiveness of the company is also a contribution of all employees of ORLEN Lietuva. 
 
The winners of Polish Business Awards were selected by an independent international commission consisting of Rūta Skyrienė, Executive Director of Investors' Forum Association, Rolandas Barysas, Chief Editor of the daily Verslo Žinios, Jaunius Pusvaškis, General Director of Baltic Management Institute (BMI), Andrzej Malinowski, President of Confederation of Employers of Poland Pracowdawcy RP and Łukasz Korycki, Deputy Chief Editor of the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
 
Over 150 people – business leaders, representatives of public administration, economic organizations and mass media – took part in the ceremony. Janusz Czubiński, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Vilnius, Dariusz Bogdan, Vice-Minister of Economy of the Republic of Poland, Algimanta Pabedinskienė, Minister of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania, and Kęstutis Trečiokas, Vice-Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania, were among the officials who presented the prizes to the winners.
 
Janusz Piechociński, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Poland, assumed the honorary patronage over the event. The ceremony was hosted by Roman Młodkowski, famous figure of Polish TV, Chief Editor of TVN CNBC until recently.
 
Since 2006, ORLEN Lietuva has already allocated nearly one billion U.S. dollars for modernization projects. In 2012, ORLEN Lietuva tax payments amounted to 9 % of the national tax revenues. In 2006 - 2012, ORLEN Lietuva contributions to the state budget, including social security taxes, amounted to 10.66 billion LTL. The company is engaged as one of the major sponsor and patron of Lithuanian culture on the national scale. ORLEN Lietuva has been titled the Official Partner for the support to Lithuania presidency of the EU Council.
