MAZEIKIAI—Mazeikiu Nafta has launched production of marked domestic heating gasoil with sulfur content of 0.2 percent. This grade of domestic heating gasoil is expected to squeeze out of the market imported products of inferior quality and with considerably higher sulfur contents.
According to Thomas Schneider, acting General Director of Mazeikiu Nafta, “the new revision of the Excise Law applies to domestic heating gasoil an excise rate of 80 Litas per tonne compared to 720 Litas formerly. That helped us to offer our customers high quality, environment-friendly domestic heating gasoil, made with the use of a modern marking technology, at an attractive price. Mazeikiu Nafta contributed to the preparation of the new revision of the Excise Law and secondary legislation by providing industry suggestions.”
Domestic heating gasoil is red dyed and chemically marked. The Ministry of Economy prepared a method to determine by color intensity the proportions of domestic heating gasoil and diesel fuel should they be mixed.
Unlike some kinds of heating oil currently used by consumers, the new product made by Mazeikiu Nafta does not contain any carcinogenic aromatic hydrocarbons.
An important advantage of the new product to consumers is the fact that the price of the marked domestic heating gasoil is to be remarkably lower than that of diesel fuel.
