As a result of an immediate and effectively coordinated actions of ORLEN Lietuva, Lithuanian Ministry of Environment and respective offices, the incident at Būtingė oil terminal has been fully neutralized. According to the estimations of local authorities, the volume of oil spill was limited to 480 litres.
The CleanSeaNet satellites recorded no pollution at Lithuanian territorial waters. The coastal area and oil terminal are conducted under constant surveillance in order to secure marine traffic and environmental parameters. The secured infrastructure will be restored on January 2nd 2021.
