On Saturday, 24th of April, Public Company ORLEN Lietuva invited its employees to a working gathering in the park of Renavas Mansion. This was the third year in a row that the Company organized a gathering in Renavas to clean up the surroundings of the Mansion and to plant trees.
This year, the volunteers focused on the upper part of the forest-type park of the Mansion where, differently from the lower part of the park, rare species of trees used not to be planted. During the working gathering, 60 trees – oaks, maples, black pines, larches – were planted. In addition, the main walkways of the park were being swept, deadwood and blown-down trees cleared off, dry branches pruned and removed.
This time, employees of Fire and Rescue Service for AB Mazeikiu Nafta Protection and the young Riflemen from Seda joined the Company’s team.
Last year, during the working gathering of the Company’s employees, 40 trees of rare species were planted in the lower part of the park; all of them were already greening last summer.
Renavas Mansion is famous for both its buildings and unique park. The Ensemble of Renavas estate is assumed to be founded in the middle of the 19th century. The majority of the Renavas Mansion park is comprised of the naturally growing species of trees. 92 species and forms of trees and bushes have been recorded at Renavas park so far; 33 of them are foreign (brought-in) species. The thickest in Lithuania Norway spruce (picea abies) is growing in the park; in 1960, the spruce was announced to be a natural monument. The diameter of the spruce’s trunk at the height of the chest reaches 1.2 meter.
