Public Company ORLEN Lietuva received the award of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists (LCI) “The Lithuanian Exporter of the Year – 2012” in recognition of the significant export volumes in the large business category.
Lithuania’s 21 companies were awarded the title Lithuanian Exporter of the Year – 2012 in three categories. The Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius, the President of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists Robertas Dargis and the head of the LCI’s Export Committee and the chair of the evaluation commission presented the awards.
“The corporate export continues to be a driver of the country’s economy, this is its backbone. Our export volumes are three times greater than before the crisis. It proves that the exporters are the main driving force of the Lithuanian economy; however, in order to strengthen it, we need to improve the business environment: it is important to focus on attraction of foreign investments, to have a stable and predictable taxation system and to ensure the companies’ competitiveness,” said R. Dargis, President of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists.
The nominees of the award were evaluated based on the total export volume, its percentage in the total sales and the export growth. The numbers were compared to the previous year’s indicators. Additional criteria, such as labor efficiency, investment level, implementation of international management and quality standards, were taken into consideration.
The Lithuanian-based companies, making the products of Lithuanian origin and exporting them, as well as rendering services for export were eligible for the award.
