AB Mažeikių Nafta and AB Lietuvos Geležinkeliai have concluded the agreements on rail carriage services. The above agreements involve crude and petroleum product carriage terms and conditions, and additional services such as rail tank car delivery to the Refinery area, rail tank car preparation and etc. 

These agreements with effective date of 1 October 2008 supersede the agreement on rail carriage services as of 1999.

In October 2008 the companies AB Mažeikių Nafta and AB Lietuvos Geležinkeliai signed an interim agreement which stabilized mutual business relations and enabled to start negotiations for the interpretation of 1999 agreement and future cooperation.

Disputes on the interpretation of 1999 agreement escalated at the third quarter of the last year and affected mutual settlements as well as resulted in arbitration and other judicial proceedings. AB Mažeikių Nafta and AB Lietuvos Geležinkeliai continue negotiating on settlement for services for the period of validity of 1999 agreement. 

New agreements shall be effective till the end of 2024.
