On Wednesday, 14th January 2009, Ramute Liupkeviciene, Head of Customs Department, presented the Authorised Economic Operator’s (AEO) Certificate to Marek Mroczkowski, General Director of AB Mazeikiu Nafta. The company became the first EU Authorised Economic Operator in Lithuania.

By this certificate the company is granted the status of the Authorised Economic Operator evidencing that AB Mažeikiu Nafta is the reliable partner of customs. This certificate is recognized in the European Union and in most countries worldwide. 

Comparing with other companies not having such status, cargoes and documents of our Company from now on will not be inspected so strictly and in case the customs decide to inspect the cargo, the inspection will be performed out of turn and in the location chosen by the Company. The certificate holder also enjoys other simplifications of customs activity regulations.

“We are proud that AB Mazeikiu Nafta is the first company in Lithuania to have received such certificate, — said M. Mroczkowski. — This certificate follows the environmental management and safety and health certificates received last year and proves that our Company has undergone a lot of positive changes and that we are the organization, which improves its operations and is a reliable partner for the customers and governmental institutions.”

In the year 2008, the Company exported 7.3 million tons (80 per cent) of its products, the value of which was 13 billion LTL. That accounts for approximately 25 per cent of the national exports. For a few consecutive years, AB Mazeikiu Nafta has been awarded the title of the Lithuanian Exporter of the Year.

According to information of Customs Department of the Republic of Lithuania, currently there are 577 AEO certificate holders in European Union. The highest number of AOE certificate holders is in Germany (169) and Sweden (100). There are five more companies in Lithuania that have submitted the applications to obtain the AEO status.
