New CEO for Mazeikiu Nafta

The Board of Mazeikiu Nafta has today appointed Marek Mroczkowski as the new CEO of Mazeikiu Nafta. Mr Mroczkowski will replace the current Managing Director, Paul Nelson English, and will take up his new post on July 2, 2007.

“PKN ORLEN has appointed a professional to this important position who, in our opinion, will be most effective at achieving the enterprise’s goals. In choosing the candidate, we took into consideration the experience and personal qualities of Mr Marek Mroczkowski,” said Piotr Kownacki, President of the Board of PKN ORLEN. “With many years of experience in the oil industry and expertise gained in the merger of Petrochemia Pùock and CPN, and as CEO of Unipetrol, Marek Mroczkowski is uniquely prepared to efficiently and effectively integrate Mažeikiu Nafta into the ORLEN Group. The company currently faces great changes – it must rebuild its operating capacity, create a new corporate culture attuned to the Group’s standards, and improve communications with key stakeholder groups in Lithuania. Mr Marek Mroczkowski is ideally suited to continue the restoration process within Mazeikiu Nafta and further the enterprise’s strategic goals, added Mr Kownacki,.

On Wednesday, Piotr Kownacki presented Marek Mroczkowski to Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas, and discussed the key current issues and growth perspectives of Mazeikiu Nafta, as well as the company’s immediate plans. Mr Mroczkowski presented his main objectives as new CEO.

“In Mazeikiu Nafta I will have the opportunity to contribute my experiences gained in managing enterprises, particularly in the oil industry, and in cross-border integration. Efficient implementation of asset modernization and organizational restructuring is necessary to achieve the goals and expectations of our shareholders, employees and the wider operating environment.

PKN ORLEN’s potential safeguards our investment funding. I am counting on the cooperation and creative initiative of the management staff and all employees. Money is necessary but it is people who make the decisions and ultimately create new value. That is why one of my key priorities will be to rebuild good relations in dialogue with employees and to improve their operating environment,” said Mr Mroczkowski.

Marek Mroczkowski is a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics, and has completed postgraduate studies in law and administration at the University of Wrocùaw and corporate value management at the Warsaw School of Economics. In 2002 he completed the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.

In recent years Mr Mroczkowski has served as Vice-President & CFO, as well as President of the Management Board, of Unipetrol for 8 months. In 1994 -2001 he held the position of Vice-President & CFO of Petrochemia Pùock and PKN ORLEN. He has chaired the Management Board of Elana S.A., one of the largest chemical businesses in Poland. Mr Mroczkowski has also held the post of President of the Management Board of Polkomtel S.A., a leading Polish cellular telephone operator.
