MAŽEIKIAI.  Wednesday, October 1, 2008, AB Mazeikiu Nafta and AB Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai have signed an interim agreement which will govern the rail transportation of the refinery products.

The interim agreement reduces the tension between the two companies and will be effective until the issues causing the dispute between the parties are resolved. These issues are associated with different interpretation of the 1999 agreement related to the applicable tariffs.

The shortest railway route from the Refinery in Mažeikiai District to Rengė village in Latvia is still closed. Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai closed this railway section on September 2, 2008.
