MAZEIKIAI — Today Butinge Terminal has been shut down for replacement of its Single Point Mooring (SPM) buoy.

A tanker’s collision with the Terminal's SPM buoy in December 2005 necessitated extensive repairs scheduled for this summer. In order to minimize the time that the Terminal will be out of service for such repairs, Mazeikiu Nafta has chosen replacement of the SPM with a new one. The Terminal is planning to be out of service for 10-14 days, barring weather delays.

Mazeikiu Nafta has accumulated sufficient crude inventory to keep its refinery operating during Butinge’s SPM replacement.
