On December 28, an accident occurred on the 201st kilometer of the petroleum product pipeline Polotsk-Ventspils  (Brizgai village, Rokiskis District), resulting in a diesel fuel spill. The product spread over an area of 20 ares. After pressure drop along the pipeline, a product leak was detected by the leak detection system. Security and Emergency Response teams of the Company immediately arrived at the place of accident. Attempts are being made to localize the spill and to perform other emergency response operations.

Currently, diesel fuel is being collected into special drums. The drums will be delivered to the refinery for the recovery of the spilled product. The causes of the accident are under investigation; however, there is no indication that it was illegal tapping into the pipeline.  Damage was discovered in the bottom of the pipeline, no vehicle tracks or illegal tapping equipment found in the place of accident.
